River Island and Ri Ri

Today I had a very frustrating Christmas shopping session in Oxford Street, nightmare is the only way to describe it and my pre-christmas cheer was severely tried. Luckily I was wearing my extremely warm faux fur jacket and Ugg boots to keep me warm. Attempting to seek some small refuge from the heaving crowds I popped into River Island and was extremely confused because I felt like I had entered Rhianna's walk in wardrobe complete with  Rude Girl slogan belts, bedazzled/ leather base ball caps and cut out leather dresses like the one below.

I thought this was the look awaited collaboration which people have been talking about since July but I could see anything in store talking about it. Having done a bit of googling I found out the collaboration is actually happening in Spring 2013, and that Rihanna had been seen wearing a denim hooded onesie/jumpsuit from the collection. Genius, I love it!!! I need to know prices and what time in the morning I can start queueing up to get my hands on it...

Photos from the photoshoot for the campaign have recently been released as well, and it looks like brit model Jourdan Dunn is one of three models also in the campaign (and the rest: Bambi Northwood-Blyth on the left and the right is Ataui Deng). Check out the girls posing in the image below. I can't wait, really...can't wait!!!

What am I saying...

I have not written a post in ages which is very bad of me, life sort of got in the way. Anyway I have been struck down with food poisoning this weekend which has made me stay inside and has given me the opportunity to get my fash on and get blogging.

I apologise in advance for the word vomit (which makes a change from the other kind I have been doing this weekend) but I have alot to discuss. Including sportwear hyped by the 2012 Olympics, Army shirt jackets and Autumn/Winter '12 clothing.

As far as the Olympics is concerned I have not been an avid watcher but I have watched a spectrum of sports ranging from table tennis, to diving. I was blown away by Usain Bolt and his crazy fast legs and also by the lengths that the British high street went to get their piece of the big Olympic pie. If you have walked down Oxford Street recently you would have seen that 80% + of shops had sports inspired VM in their front windows. Sportwear has been a huge theme for spring/summer 2012 in general and the retailers have really tried to push this. Like any good marketing campaign I have been drawn in despite a lack of inclination to actually participate in any sport. For me its about the body con dresses with sports details and hi-top trainers. Both comfy and stylish hi tops add a relaxed feel to every outfit. I brought myself a pair of dark red/purple hidden heel ones from River Island see below.

Moving on to the army jacket trend; I am not sure were the love of a camo jackets have come from but every highstreet has a version. It must have been one of those trickle up effect trends. From the streets to the high-streets!!!

I brought my very own version from Spitalfield Market, which has a massive print of the Chanel logo on the back. I hope Mr. Lagerfield doesn't mind. The fit is slouchy and the perfect transitional piece between summer and autumn.

This is a long post, so I am going to post separately on the autumn winter trends that are now flowing through the high street with vigour.

Bringing it all together

This week I have two "Totes Amazing" items, the first is the very on trend patterned suit. I tried on the beautiful number below and fell in love within. Together they cost £85 which doesn't break the bank and for something that might look completely of place next year its not bad. There are actually some shorts as well; how versatile. What I love about this look is the complementary clash of patterns, worn with a white shirt it works well. Perfect for the office and for play as well with or without heels!!!

 I'm also loving the  denim playsuit. I've always been a fan of the Psuit, but there is just something very utilitarian about a denim overall that makes me very happy. The number below is by Levis and I would pair it with some towering heels. No accessories needed, this outfit is already good to go!!! I would like to implore everyone to make denim jumpsuits the new key trend for SS12/ pre AW12. Totes Amazing Darhling xxx
